Frances Parry was born on 14 June 1921 in Dormont, PA.  She is the daughter of Ruth Antoinette Harvey and Nathaniel Groesbeck Parry.

She grew up in West View along with her 3 brothers, Jack, Nathaniel (Nate), and Matthew (Bud).

Fran attended Avalon High School and Temple University, graduating in 1942.  She studied English and Journalism.

By January 1951, Fran was working for Koppers Company in Pittsburgh, PA.
